Yield: 1 tube cake

1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 large eggs
2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup sour cream
6 tablespoons margarine, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 cup nuts, chopped (walnuts or pecans)
Cook time: 50 minutes

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease 10 inch tube pan.
Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla thoroughly.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift flour, baking powder and baking soda together.
Add flour mixture and sour crem to creamed-mixture.
Alternate a little of each, blending after each addition.
In a separate bowl, cream together margarine, brown sugar and cinnamon together.
Add nuts and mix well.
Spread 1/2 of the batter int the tube pan.
Sprinkle 1/2 of the nut mixture evenly over the batter in the pan.
Cover with remaining batter.
Sprinkle with remaining nut mixture.
Bake for about 50 minutes.
Cool cake.
When cake cools, run a knife around the side of the pan and remove cake.
