Yield: 1 loaf

2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup finely chopped walnuts
1 egg, beaten
1 1/4 cup milk
4 tablespoons shortening, melted
Cooking time: 50-60 minutes

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9 X 5 X 3 inch loaf pan.
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Add nuts. Combine egg, milk and shortening. Make a well in the dry
ingredients and add egg mixture. Stir quickly until flour is absorbed. Pour batter into greased loaf pan
Bake 50-60 minutes at 350 degrees.
Note: Brush cooked and cooled loaf with little white corn syrup. Sprinkle 1/4 cup chopped nuts down center of loaf
