2 tablespoons margarine, softened
8 cups french bread cubes (cut cubes into 1 inch squares)
2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon nutmet
1 1/2 cups half and half
1/4 cup rum
4 eggs
1/2 cup raisins

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grease 13 X 9 inch (3 quart) baking dish with margarine.

Place bread cubes in large bowl.
In separate large bowl, combine remaining ingredients except raisins; blend until smooth with wire whisk. Pour over bread cubes.
Stir in raisins.
Pour into greased baking dish.
Let stand 5 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.

Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean.
