1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon ginger
3 cups scalded milk
3 eggs, slightly beaten
2 tablespoons butter
3 cups cubed day-old bread
1/2 cup raisins

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter 1 1/2 quart casserole.
Combine sugar, cinnamon, allspice and ginger. Add scalded milk slowly to eggs; mix well. Add sugar-spice mixture tand butter.
Stir until sugar dissolves. Combine bread cubes and raisins in buttered casserole dish. Pour custard mixture over bread and
raisins; mix. Place casserole in pan of water.
Bake 1 hour or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
