1 1/4 pounds stewing beef
2 tablespoons margarine
1 onion, chopped
1/2 cups water
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 carrots peeled and cut into chunks
4 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup undiluted evaporated milk
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon flour
Cooking time: 2 1/2 hours

Brown stewing beef on all sides in margarine in kettle.
Add onion and brown lightly.
Add water, salt and pepper.
Bring to a boil, cover and simmer 1 hour or until meat is almost tender.
Add carrots, potatoes and cook 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
Blend evaporated milk, ketchup and flour and stir into meat and vegetables.
Cool stirring until slightly thickened.
